Statement of process
When I was doing the timeline I learned a lot about a Jefferson Davis. he was the president of the Confederate states. Also I learned alot about general Robert e. lee. He was one of the generals for the Confederate army.
After making a character profile on Abraham Lincoln, I started liking how much of a great person he was, so I made an obituary on him.
One problem I had doing this project was not using different topics for each genres. When i got through the first eight i just got stuck on the genres and what i should do.
How I planned my project was that I first was going to use some days finding information on my topic, then to finish at least one posts everyday and use the day after that to revise and post.
I think my favorite post was the time line. It helped me learn alot of information on the civil war and why it happened.
I think this project was very challenging. I am also glad that this project didn't need any paper work.

Dear, Father
I know you must be worried about me going into this whole war. I would have to say that I am doing very well. The food here is really horrible because for these past few days we only had cold, hard bread. I really do miss mom's cooking. It is currently April 11, 1862 which is 3 days after a huge battle at Shiloh, Tennessee. We were invaded by the Confederate army while we the Union were under command by General Ulysses S. Grant. At first I thought we would lose but, luckily we called for more help and another regiment arrived in the middle of the night. Finally we got the Confederate soldiers to retreat the next morning. I would have to say that about 13,000 out of 63,000 of us died and 11,000 of 40,000 Souther soldiers were killed. I am sorry for not writing to you sooner but, I took a couple of days to get my sleep. I really wish I can talk to you some more about what is going on here but, I must go now, we are about to carry supplies from the wagons and eat some cold soup. Hopefully I can talk to you again soon, bye!

Four score and seven years ago our fathers brought forth on this continent a new nation, conceived in liberty and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal.
Now we are engaged in a great civil war, testing whether that nation or any nation so conceived and so dedicated can long endure. We are met on a great battlefield of that war. We have come to dedicate a portion of that field as a final resting place for those who here gave their lives that that nation might live. It is altogether fitting and proper that we should do this.
But in a larger sense, we cannot dedicate--we cannot consecrate--we cannot hallow--this ground. The brave men, living and dead, who struggled here have consecrated it far above our poor power to add or detract. The world will little note, nor long remember, what we say here, but it can never forget what they did here. It is for us, the living, rather, to be dedicated here to the unfinished work which they who fought here, have, thus far, so nobly advanced. It is rather for us to be here dedicated to the great task remaining before us--that from these honored dead we take increased devotion to that cause for which they gave the last full measure of devotion--that we here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain, that this nation under God shall have a new birth of freedom--and that, government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth.
The Gettysburg address was about the civil war and how threes men dieing for what our founding fathers had fought for and made. It also talks about how he's saying this country was to be equal to all men but threes a big civil war testifying peoples freedom. In the end it talks about how in the end there hoping to restart everything with new freedom and a government of the people by the people and for the people.

The gray is the Confederate sates of American that secede from the U.S during the civil war. The green states are the border states that had to choose to be a free state or a slave state. The moron color states is western territory that isn't owned by the U.S. This is important during the time because it shows how much more states were still part of the union and how the union could have an advantage on the confederate army. It also tells how the United States is being divided by the south because of slavery.

I have this picture here because it shows abraham lincoln with a tomato on his face and a mob of angry people out front which is probably the people in the south because they don't like him because he wants to abolish slavery. they also don't like him because everything he does to try to make things work makes the south angrier at him.

He was shot was assented in 1865 while in a theater by John Wilkes booth in the back of the head because John thought he was getting revenge for the south by killing him.
Abraham Lincoln was a very important man. He was our 16Th president of the United States. He helped abolish slavery in the south. He did alot during his time as president and he just one re-election as well. He married Mary Todd and had four boys with her. his dad left him when he was only 8 years old and his mom died when he was 10 years old.

Time line of the civil war
When Abraham Lincoln was elected president south Carolina posed a threat to the united states. They were going to call a sate convention and secede from the north.Mississippi, Florida, Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana, and Texas secede and four more were going to also which would make 11, Virginia, Arkansas, Tennessee, and North Carolina
February 1861-South creates a government
The secede states make there own confederate government Jefferson Davis was named president until elections were held
April 1861-Attack at fort Sumter
the battle at fort Sumter was the first battle of the civil war and caused four more states to join the confederacy
June 1861-Four slave states join the union
Delaware, Kentucky, Maryland, and Missouri do not join the confederacy and stay with the union
January 1865- Fall of the confederacy
problems in the south caused alot of issues in the south including starvation and low supplies which made the soldiers leave general lee's forces
February 1865-A chance for peace falls
Confederate president Jefferson Davis tries to have a conference with president Lincoln to discuss a treaty but Lincoln refuses and the conference never happens
April 1865- surrender at Appomattox Courthouse.
Generals lee's forces were surrounded and lee soon called a surrender after they agreed to terms and lee's men went home and they surrendered they weapons
April 1865- The Assassination of President Lincoln.
on April 14 president Lincoln was watching a play and he was shot in the back of the head by an actor named john Wilkes booth who was trying to get revenge for the confederate defeat. Booth was then shot by a union soldier
April-May-Final surrenders among Confederate troops
Confederate troops were defeating between April and may and Jefferson Davis was captured in Georgia on may 10
